First, I must disclaim that I am a terrible bore. No matter what you might read below, mistake that not for anything remotely exciting. I don't drink, or smoke, or do drugs, or party, or, well, insert just about anything you might consider exciting here and probably you'll have me spot on. Mostly I'm pretty lame. If that hasn't detered you, read on I suppose...

I am a baseball nut, and have been for a very long time. Having grown up in Philadelphia, I am especially a Phillies fan-atic (adict?). But since my move to Oklahoma, I am in a drought for big league baseball much of the time. Oklahoma City does have a good Triple-A team, the RedHawks, so I try to catch a game in our newish (1998) stadium whenever I can. I also try to make at least one small trip every year to a big league town, such as Arlington, Houston, or Kansas City, for a game. But just because I'm a huge Phillies/baseball fan, don't think I don't go ga-ga over my Eagles.

Like most baseball nuts, I have a dream to someday catch a ball game in every major league ballpark. Only twelve down so far, so I've got a long way to go on that one.

Though I don't avidly collect baseball cards any more, I might pick one up every now and then of some of my favorite players. If you have any Mike Schmidt cards you'd like to offload, I'd be interested. Also, as a former comic book collector, I've got about three thousand of them in storage. Although, I haven't checked on them in awhile, so maybe I don't by now.

Friendship is extremely important to me. I value it less than my children, of course, but sometimes more than air. You can never have too many friends, and the very best ones last forever, through any imaginable (or unimaginable) adversity. Particularly relationships. My advice to the world is to NOT let your relationships come between your friends, because odds are, your friendships will far outlast your relationships. Quite fortunately for me, I have some of the best friends on the planet, and am extremely thankful and appreciative of their friendship and support over the years. You can't find a better group of people with unrivaled integrity and character as robust as those that I call my best friends.

Musically, I am a huge fan of Pearl Jam, Matthew Sweet, Blind Melon, Stone Temple Pilots, and REM (amongst many others). I've seen Pearl Jam in concert, during their 2000 Binaural Tour and their 2003 Riot Act Tour, which is like a religious pilgrimage for me. Music in general is very important to me and is one of my biggest releases after a hard-fought day. Though among my favorites, I am not limited to the above... I like good music... period. Instrumentally, I play(ed) the trombone, baritone horn, and drums in high school and drum corps. Recently I'm trying my hand at guitar. It's going to be a long road. Don't hold your breat expecting greatness from me here.

My sense of humor is a bit off. I'm an enormous Monty Python (and British humor in general) fan, so my wit is often more than most can handle. I am also quite aloof in my mannerisms (Shawn-isms as my friends would say), so it's not uncommon to hear me coming before you see me.

On the topic of Monty Python, some of my favorite movies are by the same group. Other movie favorites of mine include pretty much anything by Cameron Crowe, and nearly anything with John Cusak. Again this is among many other movies and actors that I find quite excellent.

Did I mention travel? I love to travel and have been doing it much of my life. I've been to something like 40 of the 50 states, and a few countries. It's a little more difficult to do as much traveling as I'd like, being a single-parent, but I'm fortunate enough to have a job that sends me away two to four times a year, at which time the kids stay with their mommy. As the kids get older I hope to do more travel, and to some international destinations perhaps.

I know I'm leaving stuff out. If you're wondering, just ask.

I am the oldest of two children by the marriage of my father and mother. My sister lives in New York City, and my mother still lives in Philadelphia. My mother and father are both re-married and I have a half-brother from my father's second marriage. My father and his family live in Del City, Oklahoma.

As a military-brat, I've moved around and lived in a lot of places. Having lived in eight states and three countries, it's hard to pick a place to call home. However, I often think of Philadelphia as my home, or at least my childhood home, since I had spent more of my younger years there than anywhere else. It's where I went to high school, and where I experienced most of those "growing up" kinds of milestones.

After graduating from Archbishop Ryan High School in 1991, I moved to Oklahoma to march in the Black Gold Drum & Bugle Corps, and to attend college. I spent a year at Rose State College in Midwest City, Oklahoma, before transferring to the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond. I graduated from UCO in the Spring of 1996 with a B.A. in Psychology.

Now and Later    Top
As a divorced, working, single parent of two pre-adolescent children, I'm currently just trying to keep up with my life. They're a hand full, but very worth it.

I had a goal of achieving my master's degree by age 30, but that didn't happen. Since I can pursue my advanced degree the whole rest of my life if I need to, I have decided to chase some time-constrained dreams more immediately. More to come on this one as things develop.
